Perhaps it is my lack of background in both the ideas of reincarnation and of molecular genetics. In any event, I am concerned about the idea that the "soul" could be "pushing" evolution. As I have tried to state in my post, I do not believe the soul is distinguishable from consciousness, which, as a physicalist, I believe is a strictly passive awareness arising from physical events. Perhaps more importantly, your comment seems to have a teleological cast to it. I do not believe that evolution has any sort of goal-directedness. It is simply driven by varying environmental factors over time. There is no end goal.JOHN PHILLIPShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06357524637192990158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7251693339364322895.post-87326266174049532232016-08-19T23:58:40.601-05:002016-08-19T23:58:40.601-05:00There is an idea about Reincarnation, that isn'...There is an idea about Reincarnation, that isn't exactly along the lines of The Laws of Karma, but more evolution. It's an older idea, not fairly modern, but the idea that evolution is being pushed forward by the soul wanting to free itself from the need of physical form.

An example is, our chromosomes. At one point, they were comprised of 42-2, which made the being feel as though it was at one with everything. The being felt that what ever happened around itself, was happening to itself. No sense self-awareness.

Then comes 44-2 chromosomes. Us. Most of us. Be we are self aware. So if the soul doesn't want physical form, it could be the driving force behind evolution. I do not. I believe that scripture is simply a collection of writings of men who lived 2-3000 years ago who had very little understanding of how the world actually works.

I find it interesting that you do not believe that animals have souls. That would imply that no one's pets will be in heaven.JOHN PHILLIPShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06357524637192990158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7251693339364322895.post-25945549333903038822016-08-19T07:03:27.563-05:002016-08-19T07:03:27.563-05:00What a interesting article you wrote. My belief tells be according to the Word of God tells me that we do have a soul that lives beyond the grave. Only in the Bible are are people listed as having eternal souls. Animals are certainly not included.Wandanoreply@blogger.com
