Actually, I was just having this conversation with a friend of mine--albeit in a different context. He is contemplating taking a job position in Hawaii, but worries he might not find the same level of happiness that he finds here in Bozeman. I pointed out the "Joy Homeostasis Principle", and he found the idea reassuring.

I enjoyed your blog, John. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts so eloquently. There are others that, in my view, are just as effective and that do not require suspension of rational inquiry. Some Christians are happy; some are not. Some nonChristians are happy; some are not. The things that bring me happiness include, of course, family and friends but also include finding things out through inquiry unfettered by any requirement that revealed authority must be given priority over critical thinking and objective evidence. Important too is the establishment of and striving for the accomplishment of personal goals that are not limited by the need to conform my behavior to any "divine goals."JOHN PHILLIPShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06357524637192990158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7251693339364322895.post-52360855318296544072014-02-02T06:22:55.611-06:002014-02-02T06:22:55.611-06:00This one thing that I know, when things pile up on...This one thing that I know, when things pile up on me as they do everyone from time to time, I can go to my Lord and I seem to feel more at peace then if I don't. I just know that my God helped me through the death of my dear husband of 50 years. It works for me. I am only speaking for myself. Many Christians seem to always be unhappy.Wandanoreply@blogger.com
